Moosa graduated from Dalhousie Law School in 1990 and articled with Justice Harradence at Alberta Court of Appeal. Upon completion of his articles, he established his own law firm in Edmonton. Moosa also has his MBA and is a Charter Mediator with ADRIA. In over 20 years of practicing in all areas of law, Moosa has gained particular expertise in dealing with Family Law, Personal Injury, Civil Litigation and Estates. Moosa has appeared before all levels of court in Alberta and has the experience to navigate a dispute through the court system in the event it is not resolved through mediation or arbitration.
Early in his career, Moosa began to question the conventional legal approach to resolving divorce and other dispute issues. He was struck by how long the process took, and by how much it cost; frequently consuming large portions of the assets which would be better put to helping clients get on with their lives or their business. He committed to following a path focused on sensibilities rather than systems; one that sees beyond differences and draws strength from relationships that while in dispute, are based on tenure and respect.
As a designated Chartered Mediator, Moosa created a framework for a Mediation Program for the Alberta Court of Queen’s Bench. During his time with Court Services, Moosa supervised the Provincial Civil Mediation Program. A Registered Collaborative Lawyer, he has also served on various Law Society committees, the Alberta Human Rights Commission and as a Board Member with the Centre for Mediation and Restorative Justice. Moosa has presented papers at LESA Seminars, the Alberta Dispute Resolution Institute of Alberta (ADRIA) and the Alberta Government Dispute Resolution Network.
